Second Opinions
New Patients | Office Policies | Second Opinions
A valuable tool when you have concerns regarding an orthodontic recommendation.
Perhaps a second opinion is in order when you have been told:
- that extractions of teeth are needed
- jaw surgery is necessary
- metallic screws need to be placed in the jaws to move teeth
- to wait for treatment until all permanent teeth are in and you fear things will get worse if delayed.
- "Braces are needed" but many baby teeth are still present
- that Invisalign won't treat your case- remember "Invisalign Certified" only means the doctor sat in on a one day lecture and may only use "Invisalign Certified" as a means to get you into the office, a form of "bait and switch". An Invisalign "Premier Provider" designation assures adequate training and experience.
You may also desire a second opinion if you are concerned:
- that undesirable facial changes will occur with treatment or that esthetic concerns will not be addressed by treatment recommended.
- about discomfort with braces
- about difficulty keeping mouth clean while wearing permanent braces
- about the length of treatment time
- the teeth will not stay corrected for a lifetime when the straightening has been completed
- that an issue regarding the TMJ (temporomandibular joint) has not been addressed by your dentist or an orthodontic specialist.
